San Miguel’s only semiprofessional community chorus, Chorale San
Miguel directed by Malcolm Halliday will present Les Sept Paroles du
Christ (In English & quote; The Seven Last Words of Christ”) on Sábado de
Gloria, March 30 at 12 PM noon in the Templo de la Tercera Orden. An
oratorio by the nineteenth century French composer Théodore Dubois,
this dramatic work depicts in music the last words Jesus uttered during his
crucifixion and is scored for large chorus, soloists and a chamber
orchestra of strings, oboe, flute, timpani, harp and organ. Soloists include
Queretaro soprano Maribel Salazar, Celaya tenor Jesús Palato and San
Miguel baritone Daniel Sandoval. The consummate work for Holy Week,
this performance will last an hour (without an intermission) and finish
around 1:00 PM.
