Through My Lens: The Magic of San Miguel Doors

By Bill Wilson

For those of us who walk the byways of Centro in our historic San Miguel de Allende we know the magic of our doors. More than 24 years ago renowned photographer Robert DeGast published the book “Behind the Doors of San Miguel de Allende.”

Today, Brooklyn-born photographer Pablo Lemberg of San Miguel de Allende has picked up where DeGast left off.

“I started shooting pictures with a box camera around six years old and then upgraded to a camera ‘borrowed’ from my father at the age of ten,” explains Lemberg. “He saw how enthusiastic I was and gifted me my first professional camera for my 13th birthday. He helped pave my path with that gift.”  With a BFA in photography, much of his work is digitally composited and recolored on a computer using a combination of software tools.
