When we were told a NY Style deli was to open, we couldn’t wait to try it. You will find this charming diner-like setting on Stirling Dickinson 2A, on the same side as Pork Belly. Inspired by a Mexican’s love for all things New York, the Deli-District 1960 pays homage to the Big Apple culinary comfort. The menu is a testament to his love, featuring a wide array of classic deli favorites, from generous sandwiches to all-day breakfast dishes.
The friendly staff, often sporting Yankee Logos on their shirts, are always ready to assist. Katia, the manager, is very attentive and will walk you through their menu. A unique feature of the deli is the option to customize your sandwich, allowing your creative palate and hunger to pick your mix of favorites.
A local tip: don’t miss the soup of the day, a perfect addition to your meal on a chilly winter San Miguel evening.
Katia mentioned that the most ordered option and star of the show is undoubtedly the pastrami sandwich, with a generous portion of premium pastrami between slices of melted Swiss cheese, toasted rye bread and Polish mustard, we definitely understood why. Other popular choices include the Reuben, Roast beef, Brisket, and open-faced turkey sandwiches. Each sandwich is served with a side of pickles and your choice of fries, pasta salad, or coleslaw.
The deli also offers a variety of Jewish dishes, such as the kosher salami bagel and the delectable Latkes with a side of sour cream that make the perfect appetizer to share. If you are looking for a different breakfast option, the “Empire State” is the way to go, this hearty dish features eggs Benedictine, topped with yummy kosher salami and a rich Hollandaise sauce, and if you are feeling particularly hungry try the "Full Yankee" a dish with two eggs cooked to your liking with ham, sausage, Latke hashbrown, rye toasted bread, and butter.
What is a good meal without a sweet ending? Try any of their dessert options, like the creamy New York Cheesecake, always a crowd-pleaser, or their dreamy Oy Vay Blintzes, ricotta cheese-filled crêpes with raspberry marmalade. The dessert menu comes from the local favorite, Petit Four, guaranteeing a delightful treat!
The NY Deli – District is sure to satisfy your cravings, open every day but Tuesday from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
