For people who love art and those who love to create and share art, this Saturday and Sunday represents something akin to a ‘love walk’ as over 40 locations from private home studios to known art galleries throw open their doors and invite you in. In a grand tradition that started when the Instituto de Allende, in the neighbourhood where the art walk is taking place, opened their doors in the 1950s, creating art has become a cultural identifier for San Miguel de Allende.
And in a sweet side-note, Zara Fernandez, from the family who opened the doors of the Instituto Allende to art students internationally and in particular to those who could take advantage of the U.S. ‘G. I. Bill’, is front and center in the organization of this year’s already successful “My Studio Art Walk” simply judged by the number of participants opening their doors for art and the 25 sponsors and patrons helping to put this event on the map.
Get on their map and take the art walk to be part of the grand strolling scene in San Antonio district this weekend, also shops and restaurants along the route. Taxis will be cruising the area if you prefer a lift across the neighbourhood from one hot spot to the next. Number 40 on the map is the Arroyo Gallery, Rinconada de Aldea 27, a bit “alone” on this “My Studio” map but do make time to visit to find yourself loving cactus more than you already might, based on artist Suzy Taylor’s tight interpretations.

Para las personas que aman el arte y las que aman crear y compartir arte, este sábado y domingo representa algo parecido a un "paseo de amor", ya que más de 40 lugares, desde estudios particulares hasta conocidas galerías de arte, abren sus puertas y te invitan a entrar. En una gran tradición que comenzó cuando el Instituto de Allende, en el barrio donde tiene lugar el paseo de arte, abrió sus puertas en la década de 1950, la creación de arte se ha convertido en un identificador cultural de San Miguel de Allende.
Y en una dulce nota al margen, Zara Fernández, de la familia que abrió las puertas del Instituto Allende a los estudiantes de arte a nivel internacional y, en particular, a los que podían beneficiarse de la "G. I. Bill" de EE.UU., está al frente y en el centro de la organización de la ya exitosa "My Studio Art Walk" de este año, simplemente a juzgar por el número de participantes que abren sus puertas para el arte y los 25 patrocinadores y mecenas que ayudan a poner este evento en el mapa.
Tome un mapa y camine el paseo del arte para ser parte de la gran escena en el distrito de San Antonio este fin de semana, también con tiendas y restaurantes a lo largo de la ruta. Los taxis circularán por la zona si prefieres que te lleven de un punto a otro del barrio. El número 40 del mapa es la Galería Arroyo, Rinconada de Aldea 27, un poco "lejana" en este mapa de "Mi Estudio", pero date el tiempo para visitarla y descubrirás que te gustan los cactus más de lo que ya te gustan, gracias a las interpretaciones de la artista Suzy Taylor.
